Reset Your iPhone Before Selling

Follow this checklist to safely erase your iPhone, remove your Apple Account, and prepare it for the next owner.

Important: Do not reset until your photos, contacts, files, messages, and important apps are already backed up.

Step-by-Step Guide

Back up your iPhone

Go to Settings → your name → iCloud → iCloud Backup → Back Up Now.

Save important app access

Check banking apps, GCash, Maya, email, WhatsApp, Viber, Facebook, and authenticator apps.

Unpair Apple Watch

If you have an Apple Watch connected, unpair it before erasing the iPhone.

Sign out of Apple Account

Go to Settings → your name → Sign Out. This removes Find My iPhone and Activation Lock.

Remove SIM or erase eSIM

Remove physical SIM. If you use eSIM, erase it during reset if you will not use it anymore.

Erase the iPhone

Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Erase All Content and Settings.

Stop at Hello screen

After reset, do not set it up again. Turn it off and give it to the buyer.

What the Buyer Should See

The buyer should see the first setup screen only, usually showing “Hello” or “Choose Language.” If your Apple Account still appears, the reset is not complete.
